"J.Haydn Oxford Symphony"
A classical Masterpiece arranged for mandolin and guitar
Haydn (1732-1809) composed 108 Symphonys for large Orchestra !
The Oxford Symphony N1°92 (1791). It is one of the most creative works of the classical period. Mozart (1756- 1791) and Beethoven (1770 - 1827) were Haydns students. Haydn lasted Mozart and was also a contemporary to Beethoven who himself was a contemporary of Schubert (1797-1828) who is already allocated to the romantic period. What a melting pot in the late 18th and the dawn of the 19. century ! Haydn is without doubt the forerunner of the future generation of composers. And not to forget: Bach died in 1750, Haydn was then 18 years and was a famous singer. there are sources who tell that Haydn sung at Vivaldis funeral in 1741.
I first arranged this piece for guitar quintet, than for guitar quartet and at least for mandolin/violin and guitar. the extracted extract of a great masterpiece quintessenced as a duo. I'm happy to bring it to you now
